Any ideas as to what oil painting medium painter Mark Ryden uses?

His paintings are skillful, yet what I am astounded by is the luminosity, and vibrancy of his color, and the COMPLETE absence of dust and other fibers in his paintings... I need to know how painters achieve these results! Thanks!!
