Cartilage piercing complications?

i was at the mall and noticed this place called piercing pagoda & decided to take a look. one of my friends told me how cheap it was, and i was interested in getting my cartilage done. i picked out a stainless steel cone-shaped piercing, and got it done with a gun. it didnt hurt that bad, until like a couple days afterwards. i clean it twice everyday but it still feels very sore. i can barely even sleep on that side anymore because it hurts. prior to the piercing, i never researched it or anything so i didnt know that it was bad to get it pierced with a gun instead of a needle. should i remove the piercing & get it re-done w/ a needle or just wait the 10 months or whatever for it to heal?
