How should a girl react when they get rejected by a guy?

well i'm in college, adn i'm not gonna lie, i've never been rejected by a guy before. then again i've never had to make the first move...so i'm planning on talking to this guy, with very much encouragement i've decided to ask him out...like i've said i've never done it before and i'm not afraid if he rejects me, just how to react if he does...so if he does, how do i maintain composure? what do i say? even how the hell am i going to ask him out...he's a shy guy, and i'm a type a kind of girl..so how do i get him to ask me out, or if i ask him, how do i go about that? and if he rejects how should i react..obviously i'm not going to cry..maybe just feel a little shity...help!
