The Body of Christopher Creed?

Okay, I just finished the book and I admit Iw asn't paying as much attention to it as I should have been. And I really don't get it. What exactly happened to Torey in the woods? And what's with all the letters at the end? Someone who's read (and understands) the book, could you please help me? Thanks ^_^
